Mr. Paul is a 1991 graduate of Baldwin Wallace College with a degree in Business Administration and Communications and a 1995 graduate of Ohio Northern University School of Law where he received a Juris Doctorate degree. A Portage County native, he has continued to serve the community and profession by serving as a Board of Trustee and Executive Committee Member of the Portage County United Way and on various committees for the Bar Association. Mr. Paul resides in Cuyahoga County and practices throughout northeast Ohio. Doug is licensed in all levels of Ohio State Courts, the U.S. Federal District Court, Northern District of Ohio and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit. He has been at Christley, Herington & Pierce since 1995, first as an associate and currently as a partner.

Doug Paul represents clients in a wide variety of civil litigation, involving contract disputes, noncompetion/post employment restriction, anti-solicitation disputes, and regulatory and enforcement. He regularly litigates partnership, LLC, corporate premises liability, real estate, lease dispute and employment issues. Mr. Paul’s business and corporate practice includes preparing a wide variety of agreements, such as asset purchase agreements, service contracts, licensing documents, consulting and royalty agreements, stock purchase agreements, buy-sell, shareholder or member contracts, confidentiality and trade secrets, residential and commercial leases, and entity administration and governance documentation.

Much of Mr. Paul’s business law and related work begins with business entity selection followed by the preparation and maintenance of the business entity record book. Mr. Paul’s extensive experience in litigating these types of agreements naturally assists in document drafting.
